DMflex put to the test

You are a National Newspaper. You need your site redesigning from scratch. You receive millions of visitors a month. You come under regular DDOS attacks. You have three weeks to do this…and by the way it’s Christmas.

That was the challenge that we faced in December 2010. It was time for WebGen to flex its muscles. THISDAY is the leading Newspaper of Nigeria, and needed a rebranded website to support not only its Newspaper but also to extend its reach to an online audience.

Sleeves were rolled up and we got to work. The User Interface and Design team pulled together the required wireframes and designs. The hardware engineers pulled together over 16 servers; running 1 instance of the website. The development team took WebGen and extended its capabilities to run over this new infrastructure. The Content Managers and Trainers worked with the THISDAY team to migrate all previous content and get the Editorial trained up on WebGen and its capabilities.

The end result on 3rd January 2011, at 1.20am the new iteration of the site went live www.thisdaylive.com . Once again WebGen demonstrating its capabilities in being able to deliver Enterprise level results under the toughest of conditions in the shortest of time frames

Since going live over a million visitors have come to the site and now additional mobile applications have also been generated by the services team at DMflex. Creating for the myriad of mobile platforms is made that much easier by utilising WebGen’s Powerful API, that allows 3rd party applications to extract data from the THISDAY data store.
